WNS Interview Experience 2026

WNS walk-in candidates for process associate roles register on a SmartRecruiters form, attend at the listed office, and are interviewed for one of the profiles being hired (voice, non-voice, chat, blended, AML, KYC or mortgage) on English, listening, customer handling and basic computer skills. Analyst candidates apply to a specific posting and are interviewed on the tools it names, such as SPSS and Excel for market research or Prophet for actuarial work.

Detailed public write-ups for WNS are scarce. The stages below come from short candidate answers on Indeed (2017 and November 2023), Interview Query’s analyst guide and WNS’s own 2026 postings and walk-in forms. Treat the round order as typical, and confirm it with the recruiter.

WNS interview process stage by stage

Stage What happens What to have ready
Registration Fill the walk-in CRF or apply on SmartRecruiters Resume, profile preference
Aptitude test Reasoning and basic numeracy; sometimes a written communication test Timed practice on basic aptitude
Operations round Customer handling, spoken English, process basics for your profile AHT and quality terms, a customer example
Manager round Scenarios, targets, shift and location fit An honest shift answer, one example of meeting a target
HR round Background, notice period, salary A 60-second introduction, salary expectation
Offer Salary, shift, joining date, training dates Questions about allowances and transport

What each 2026 WNS posting tests

These come from WNS’s India SmartRecruiters page, checked in October 2026.

  • Bangalore Walkins (RMZ Centennial, Whitefield). Profiles: voice, non-voice, chat, blended, AML, KYC and mortgage. Graduates or undergraduates. The form exists to register your candidature; dates, documents and rounds are not listed.
  • Gurgaon Walk-In CRF (Blocks A2 and A3, 10th floor). The same profiles and the same graduate or undergraduate requirement.
  • Associate/Senior Associate - Operations (Airoli, Navi Mumbai). Inbound calls and query resolution. Graduate freshers, or HSC plus at least six months of experience. Skills: computer applications, customer service practices, listening, verbal and written communication, logical and analytical problem solving. Measured on quality, AHT, average speed of answer, answer rate and productivity.
  • Sr. Analyst - Market Research (Bengaluru). SPSS and strong Excel, Word and PowerPoint required; E-tabs, SQL and Tableau a plus. Daily work includes cross-tabs, statistical tests, frequency tables and data cleaning. Rotational shift.
  • Senior Analyst - Actuarial, UK Life Insurance (Gurgaon). 2-4 years in life insurance or variable annuities, three actuarial exams preferred, Prophet or MG-ALFA, UK shifts, work from office.
  • Lead Associate - Transactional Quality, Accounts Payable (Gurgaon). B.Com or MBA finance, client quality reporting and root cause analysis, US shift 3:30 pm to 12:30 am, work from office.

How to prepare for each WNS profile

Voice, chat and blended

What is checked: English, listening and calm customer handling.

  • Practice a 60-second introduction and a mock call where a friend plays an angry customer.
  • Learn AHT, ASA, first-call resolution and quality score.
  • Be ready to say which shifts you can work.

KYC, AML and mortgage

What is checked: Attention to detail and basic finance knowledge.

  • Know what KYC and AML mean and which documents verify identity and address.
  • Prepare one example of catching an error others missed.

Accounts payable and F&A

What is checked: Process knowledge and comfort with US shifts.

  • Learn the three-way match, invoice exceptions and accruals.
  • For quality roles, prepare a root cause analysis example.

Analyst and research

What is checked: The tools on the posting.

  • Excel: XLOOKUP or VLOOKUP, pivot tables, conditional formatting.
  • Data: SQL joins, cleaning survey data, reading a cross-tab with a chi-square test.

WNS interview questions that come up often

HR and operations

  1. Tell me about yourself
  2. Why WNS?
  3. Are you comfortable with US, UK or night shifts?
  4. How would you handle an angry customer?
  5. What do AHT and quality score mean?

Profile-specific

  1. What is the difference between KYC and AML?
  2. What is a three-way match?
  3. VLOOKUP versus XLOOKUP
  4. INNER JOIN versus LEFT JOIN

Sample answers for high-frequency questions

Q. How would you handle an angry customer?
A. “I would let them finish, apologize for the trouble, repeat the issue to confirm it, and tell them exactly what I will do and by when. If it needs a supervisor, I escalate and tell the customer when they will hear back.”

Q. What is the difference between KYC and AML?
A. KYC verifies who the customer is using identity and address documents and keeps that record current. AML is the wider program to detect and report money laundering, including transaction monitoring; KYC is one part of it.

Q. What is a three-way match?
A. Matching the purchase order, the goods receipt and the supplier invoice before payment. If quantity or price differs beyond tolerance, the invoice goes on hold until purchasing or the supplier resolves it.

WNS interview tips

Walk-ins

  • Register on the SmartRecruiters form before you go.
  • Ask which profile you are being considered for.

Communication

  • For voice roles every answer is part of the English check.
  • Speak slowly and give one real example per answer.

HR answers with samples are on the WNS HR interview questions page, and pay, locations and the Capgemini acquisition are on the WNS interview questions hub.

Quick answers

How many rounds are there in a WNS walk-in?

WNS does not publish a fixed number. A November 2023 Indeed answer lists four rounds for freshers: aptitude, operations, manager and HR. Interview Query’s analyst guide reports 2-3 rounds. Ask the recruiter at registration which ones apply to your profile.

What should I bring to a WNS walk-in?

The WNS walk-in forms do not list documents. Carry a printed resume, a government photo ID, education certificates and, if you have worked before, your last salary slip and relieving letter, and register on the SmartRecruiters form before you go.

Is the WNS interview easy for freshers?

The bar for process associate roles is mainly clear English, listening and basic computer skills, which WNS’s Associate - Operations posting lists as requirements, and graduate freshers are eligible. Analyst and actuarial roles are harder because they test tools such as SPSS, Excel and Prophet.
