WNS HR and operations interviews test communication and fit for the process: tell me about yourself, why WNS, whether you can work US or UK shifts, how you would handle an angry customer, and whether you understand targets such as AHT and quality score. WNS’s own Associate - Operations posting lists the skills behind these questions: listening, spoken and written English, customer service knowledge, attention to detail and problem solving.
The stages of a WNS walk-in and what each role tests are on the WNS interview questions hub, and stage-by-stage notes are on the WNS interview experience page.
What WNS postings say it looks for
WNS does not publish a values list for candidates. Its careers page describes the workforce it wants as having a collaborative mindset, a proactive attitude and the ability to learn constantly, and its 2026 operations posting asks for attention to detail, clear communication and research and resolution of issues using the tools provided. Build your answers around those traits.
Common WNS HR interview questions
1. Tell me about yourself
Sample answer (fresher): “I completed my B.Com from Pune University this year with 68%. During college I worked part-time for six months at a mobile store, handling customer complaints and billing. I am comfortable with Excel and typing, and I want to start in a customer operations role where I can learn a process well and move up to a team lead role.”
2. Why do you want to join WNS?
Sample answer: “WNS runs processes for banking, insurance and travel clients, and the KYC profile in this walk-in matches my commerce background. I also read that WNS has a learning academy with more than 300 programs, which matters to me because I want to build domain skills, not just handle calls.”
3. Are you comfortable with night shifts or US shifts?
Sample answer: “Yes. I live 25 minutes from the office, my family is fine with late shifts, and I have done evening shifts at my previous job. I would like to know if the shift rotates and whether transport is provided.”
4. How would you handle an angry customer?
Sample answer: “I would let the customer finish, apologize for the trouble, and repeat the issue back to confirm I understood. Then I would tell them exactly what I can do and how long it will take. If it is outside my authority, I would escalate to my team lead and tell the customer when they will hear back. At the mobile store, this approach turned a refund complaint into a replacement the customer accepted.”
5. What do you understand by AHT and quality?
Sample answer: “AHT is the average time per call including hold and after-call work. Quality is how well each call meets the audit checklist: greeting, verification, correct resolution and closing. A good associate keeps AHT on target without cutting steps that quality checks.”
6. What are your strengths and weaknesses?
Sample answer: “My strength is patience with customers; I stayed calm through the festive rush at the store when complaints doubled. My weakness is that I used to type slowly, so I practiced daily and went from 25 to 40 words per minute in two months.”
7. Tell me about a time you made a mistake at work
Framework: The mistake, how you found it, who you told, how you fixed it, and the check you added. In a KYC or accounts payable role, accuracy matters more than speed, so show that you report errors early.
8. How do you handle repetitive work?
Sample answer: “I set small targets for each hour and track my own accuracy. In my internship I processed about 80 invoices a day and kept a checklist of the three errors I made most often, which I stopped making within two weeks.”
9. Where do you see yourself in three years?
Sample answer: “As a senior associate or SME in the same process, helping train new joiners, and moving toward a team lead or quality role.”
10. Tell me about a time you worked under pressure
Framework: The deadline or volume, what you prioritized, and the result with a number.
11. Are you comfortable working from office?
Sample answer: “Yes. I understand many WNS roles are work from office, including client-facing processes with data security rules.”
12. Do you have any questions for us?
Strong questions:
- “Which process and client would I be on, and what is the shift?”
- “How long is the process training, and is there a certification at the end?”
- “How are quality and AHT targets set for new joiners?”

Answers that hurt in a WNS interview
- Saying you are fine with any shift and then backing out at offer stage
- Memorized introductions that sound read out
- Not knowing which profile you applied for
- Paying anyone for a job offer: WNS charges no fees and asks candidates to report such requests to grievance@wns.com
Quick answers
Are you comfortable working night shifts or US shifts?
Answer honestly and specifically. Many WNS roles run on US or UK shifts; one Gurgaon accounts payable posting ran 3:30 pm to 12:30 am, work from office only. If you can do it, say so and mention how you will manage travel and sleep; if you cannot, say which shifts you can do.
How would you handle an angry customer?
Listen without interrupting, apologize for the experience, restate the problem to confirm it, explain what you will do and by when, then follow up. Keep your tone calm and do not promise what the process does not allow. WNS’s operations posting lists customer service knowledge and strong listening as required skills.
Why do you want to join WNS?
Name the process or domain you applied for, such as KYC, mortgage or market research, one reason it interests you, and one skill you bring. You can mention that WNS serves clients across 10 industries and runs a learning academy with more than 300 programs, which gives room to move between processes.
What do you know about AHT and quality scores?
AHT, average handling time, is talk time plus hold time plus after-call work, divided by calls handled. Quality score is how well a call or transaction meets the audit checklist. WNS’s Associate - Operations posting lists quality, AHT, average speed of answer and answer rate as targets, so show you know the job balances speed and accuracy.
