eClerx Interview Questions and Answers (2026)

The eClerx interview process for freshers has four or five steps, sometimes finished in a single day at a walk-in: an English communication test, an aptitude test (quantitative, logical reasoning, English and voice), an HR interview, and an operations or technical interview with a manager. Finance roles test derivatives, capital markets, the trade life cycle and AML and KYC basics. Customer operations roles test spoken English, basic Excel and CRM knowledge, and whether you can work night shifts.

eClerx is a Mumbai-headquartered business process management and analytics company, listed on the BSE and NSE, with 22,518 delivery staff at the end of March 2026. Most fresher hiring is for Analyst and Financial Analyst (Apprentice) roles in Airoli (Navi Mumbai), Pune, Chandigarh, Mohali and Coimbatore, where the work is back-office and middle-office processing for banks and large clients.

eClerx interview questions with answers

Q: What are derivatives, and what types do you know?

A derivative is a contract whose value comes from an underlying asset such as a share, index, bond, currency or commodity. Name the four types: forwards (private, customized agreements to buy or sell later at a set price), futures (standardized, exchange-traded forwards with daily settlement), options (the right but not the obligation to buy, a call, or sell, a put) and swaps (exchanging cash flows, such as fixed for floating interest). Add one use: a company hedging its dollar payments with a currency forward. This is the most reported question for eClerx finance roles.

Q: Explain the trade life cycle.

Walk through it in order: trade execution by the front office, trade capture and enrichment in the booking system, confirmation and matching with the counterparty, clearing, settlement (delivery of securities against payment, T+1 for Indian equities), and then reconciliation and reporting. Say where an analyst sits: in the middle and back office, checking that confirmations match and breaks are resolved before settlement.

Q: What is AML and KYC?

KYC (know your customer) is verifying a client’s identity, address, ownership and risk profile before and during the relationship. AML (anti-money laundering) is the wider framework that uses KYC data, sanction screening and transaction monitoring to spot and report suspicious activity. An Airoli Financial Analyst in July 2026 was asked about sanction screening and transaction monitoring, so be ready to explain each in one line.

Q: What is the capital market?

The capital market is where long-term funds are raised and traded through shares and bonds. Split it into the primary market, where companies issue new securities in an IPO, and the secondary market, where existing securities trade on exchanges such as the NSE and BSE. Contrast it with the money market, which handles short-term instruments of up to a year such as treasury bills and commercial paper.

Q: Are you comfortable working night shifts?

Answer yes only if it is true, and show you have planned for it: how you will travel at night, who at home knows the schedule, and how you will keep your sleep regular. eClerx’s finance drives list fixed night shifts such as 6:30 PM to 3:30 AM, and HR asks about it in several candidate reports. A hesitant answer is a common reason for rejection at BPO interviews.

Q: Why eClerx out of all BPOs?

AmbitionBox lists this among the top eClerx HR questions. Point to the work, not the size: eClerx’s finance teams handle KYC, reconciliations and trade support for global banks, so you learn capital-market operations from your first month. Mention one thing you checked, such as eClerx being a listed company headquartered in Mumbai, and connect it to your degree.

Q: What is VLOOKUP and when would you use it?

VLOOKUP finds a value in the first column of a table and returns a value from another column in the same row, for example pulling a client’s name from an ID list into a trade report. Mention its limits (it only looks right and breaks if columns move) and that XLOOKUP or INDEX-MATCH fixes both. A Mumbai Analyst candidate in February 2026 reported basic Excel questions in the interview.

Q: Tell me some technical specs of a product.

An Analyst candidate was asked this in October 2026. Pick a product you know well, such as your phone, and list four or five specs in a clear order: display size, processor, memory and storage, camera and battery. The test is whether you describe details accurately and in a structured way, which is what catalog and data roles require.

eClerx interview questions by role

Role Reported questions and topics
Financial Analyst / Finance Apprentice What are derivatives and their types; swaps, options, forwards and futures; capital market and stock market; trade life cycle; AML, KYC, sanction screening and transaction monitoring; ratios; depreciation entry
Analyst, customer operations Basic Excel, CRM tools and Salesforce; your background; why eClerx; are you fine with night shifts
Analyst, data and product content What is a B2B process; difference between a manufacturing site and a third-party site; give technical specs of any product
Data Analyst Python, Pandas, NumPy and PySpark code; Power BI dashboards; your projects
Associate Process Manager Reconciliation tools such as TLM and IntelliMatch; SME round, then program manager

The finance rounds are run by operations managers, so the questions stay at the level of what the desk does: settlements, reconciliations, corporate actions and KYC checks. Builtin’s copy of the Airoli posting describes the work as trade confirmation matching, pre-settlement support, front-to-back-office position reconciliation, syndicated loan support and reporting in Excel.

eClerx walk in interview: what the 2026 drives asked for

eClerx fills most entry-level seats through walk-ins. The 2026 notices follow a similar pattern:

Drive Role Eligibility Shift
Airoli, Navi Mumbai, 17-19 March 2026 Finance Apprentice Analyst, 100 openings B.Com, BBA, BMS, M.Com, MBA Finance; 0-2 years Fixed night shift
Coimbatore, 15 June 2026 (Sri Krishna College of Arts & Science) Financial Apprentice, investment banking, 50 openings B.Com, BBA, BMS, BA, B.Sc, BE, M.Com, M.Sc; 2024-2026 batches EMEA and NAM
Coimbatore, 16-17 June 2026 (Hindustan College of Arts & Science) Customer Services Any graduate, freshers Rotational
Pune, Hinjewadi Phase 2, 9-10 July 2026 Analyst, inbound customer calls, stated Rs 3.5-4.3 lakh a year Any graduate, 0-1 year Rotational
Pune, Hinjewadi Phase 2, 21-24 October 2026 Analyst (Apprentice), investment banking B.Com, M.Com, BBA, BAF, BMS; 2022-2026 batches EMEA and night
Airoli, daily walk-in Financial Market Analyst B.Com, BBA, BBM, BCA, M.Com, MBA, PGDM; 0-6 months General, APAC, EMEA, NAM

Most of these notices were read on job-listing sites that copy eClerx’s postings, and dates sometimes differ between copies. Call the recruiter number on the notice before you travel.

What to carry to an eClerx walk-in

  • Three printed copies of your resume
  • A government photo ID
  • All semester marksheets and degree certificates (the Airoli notice calls hard-copy marksheets mandatory)
  • Passport-size photographs
  • Experience letters, if you have worked before
  • Formal clothes; the Coimbatore notice asks for business attire

The Airoli notice also states a 3-month cooling period before you can attend again, and a 1-year training agreement for the apprentice role.

eClerx aptitude test and communication test

The first gate is language. eClerx’s recruitment page says entry-level candidates take an online assessment of comprehension, written and verbal communication, reading and customer-experience skills, with language ability rated on the CEFR scale from A1 to C2. Candidates describe it under different names:

  • A Pune Analyst candidate in November 2025 took an online English communication test and said a score above 60 was needed for the next round.
  • An Airoli Analyst candidate in January 2026 said eClerx ran a Versant test for communication.
  • A Financial Analyst candidate on AmbitionBox in October 2026 said the first round was an AI test of communication, some finance knowledge and a strict check of English.

The aptitude test comes next for most finance roles. The March 2026 Airoli notice lists quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, English and voice. Expect percentages, profit and loss, ratios, number series, simple data interpretation and grammar. An Airoli Financial Analyst in July 2026 said the aptitude round was a bit tough, while others rated the whole process easy to moderate.

Older Chandigarh reviews (2019-2020) mention a typing test for voice and data roles. None of the 2025-26 reports on Glassdoor or AmbitionBox mention one, so ask the recruiter if your notice lists it.

Where eClerx candidates lose points

These come up repeatedly in 2025-26 Glassdoor and AmbitionBox reports:

  • Weak spoken English at the first test. The communication test is a cut-off; a Pune candidate needed a score above 60 just to reach the manager.
  • Not knowing derivatives. “What are derivatives and their types” appears in more finance reports than any other question, followed by capital markets and the trade life cycle.
  • Hesitating on shifts or location. HR asks whether you are fine with night shifts and with the office location, and one Financial Analyst candidate was asked four things they like and dislike about Mumbai.
  • Applying while studying. The March 2026 Airoli notice turns away candidates pursuing an MBA, CA, CFA, CMA or CS.
  • Missing documents. The Airoli notice calls hard-copy marksheets for every semester mandatory.
  • Assuming silence means rejection. Several candidates heard nothing for weeks after the final round; one Pune candidate’s role went on hold after PF verification. Follow up with the recruiter whose number is on the notice.

Who does well in eClerx interviews

Good fit: Commerce graduates who can explain derivatives, the trade life cycle and KYC in simple English, are comfortable with night or EMEA shifts, and live near the office. Candidates who did well describe the rounds as easy to moderate and quick, often finished in a day.

Harder path: Candidates with weak spoken English, since the communication test comes first and is scored strictly, and anyone who needs day shifts only. Engineering or IT graduates applying to finance roles also find the operations round harder, because it tests capital-market basics, not coding.

About eClerx

eClerx was founded in 2000, is headquartered in Mumbai and is listed on the BSE and NSE. For the year ended March 31, 2026 it reported revenue of INR 4,217.4 crore (USD 468.9 million), up 22.6%, and a delivery headcount of 22,518 across 17 countries. Its careers page lists India offices in Chandigarh, Coimbatore, Mohali, Mumbai and Pune, and names four values: Excellence, People, Integrity and Client-Centric.

A one-week eClerx prep plan

  1. Days 1-2: Read aloud for 15 minutes a day and record a 60-second introduction. Practice short spoken answers, since the communication test rates speaking and listening.
  2. Days 3-4: Do timed aptitude sets: percentages, profit and loss, ratios, number series, simple data interpretation and sentence correction.
  3. Days 5-6: For finance roles, write one-paragraph notes on derivatives (forwards, futures, options, swaps), the trade life cycle, capital vs money market, AML and KYC, and the golden rules of accounting. For operations roles, practice VLOOKUP, pivot tables and basic CRM terms.
  4. Day 7: Prepare answers for why eClerx, night shifts, relocation and salary expectation, and pack your documents.

eClerx salary for freshers

eClerx does not publish pay on most walk-in notices. Published figures for 2026:

Source Role Pay
AmbitionBox (2026) Analyst, 0-4 years Rs 2.8-3.1 lakh a year typical range
AmbitionBox (2026) Financial Analyst Rs 2.6-2.9 lakh a year
Job4freshers copy of a July 2026 Pune walk-in Analyst, 0-1 year Rs 3.5-4.3 lakh a year stated
Glassdoor jobs, employer-provided Analyst - Voice Process, Chandigarh Rs 20,000-23,000 a month
Glassdoor jobs, employer-provided International Customer Support Executive, Chandigarh Rs 20,000-30,000 a month

Night-shift roles may carry allowances, but none of these sources gives an amount, so ask HR for the in-hand figure.

Frequently asked questions about eClerx interviews

What is the eClerx interview process?

eClerx’s own recruitment page lists an online assessment of comprehension, written and verbal communication, reading and customer-experience skills, rated on the CEFR scale; for some roles a short domain training with a test; then a screening with Talent Acquisition, a technical or functional panel and a final HR discussion. Walk-in notices for Financial Analyst roles in Airoli list screening, an aptitude test (quantitative, logical, English and voice), an HR interview and an operations interview.

How does the eClerx walk in interview work?

eClerx runs walk-ins at its own offices, such as K Raheja Mindspace in Airoli, Navi Mumbai and Quadron Business Park in Hinjewadi, Pune, and at college campuses in Coimbatore. Notices give a reporting window, usually 9:30 or 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and a recruiter contact. Some candidates report finishing the tests and interviews on the same day.

What is on the eClerx aptitude test?

A March 2026 Airoli walk-in notice for Finance Apprentice Analysts lists quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, English and a voice section. Glassdoor reviewers mostly rate the process average in difficulty, though one Airoli Financial Analyst called the aptitude round a bit tough. Some Analyst candidates instead took an online English communication test and needed a score above 60 to move on.

What are common eClerx interview questions for freshers?

Tell me about yourself, why eClerx, are you comfortable with night shifts and this location, and for finance roles what derivatives are, the types of derivatives, what the capital market is, the trade life cycle and AML and KYC basics. A customer operations Analyst in Mumbai was asked basic Excel, CRM and Salesforce questions.

Does eClerx hire freshers?

Yes. Walk-in notices in 2026 invite freshers and candidates with up to 1 or 2 years of experience. Finance roles ask for B.Com, BBA, BMS, BAF, M.Com or MBA Finance, and customer services drives accept any graduate. The March 2026 Airoli notice excluded candidates still pursuing an MBA, CA, CFA, CMA or CS.

What is the eClerx salary for freshers?

AmbitionBox shows a typical range of Rs 2.8-3.1 lakh a year for eClerx Analysts with 0-4 years of experience, and Rs 2.6-2.9 lakh for Financial Analysts. A July 2026 Pune Analyst walk-in listing stated Rs 3.5-4.3 lakh a year, and Glassdoor shows employer-provided pay of Rs 20,000-23,000 a month for an Analyst voice role in Chandigarh.

Does eClerx require night shifts?

Often. The March 2026 Airoli Finance Apprentice notice lists fixed night shifts such as 6:30 PM to 3:30 AM or 7:30 PM to 4:30 AM, the Coimbatore and Pune drives list EMEA and NAM shifts, and a Mumbai Analyst candidate in February 2026 was asked whether night shifts were fine.

Does eClerx charge a fee for jobs?

No. eClerx says neither it nor its recruitment agencies charge any fee for interviews or hiring, that offers come only from authorized officials, and that it never sends hiring emails from Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail or Rediffmail addresses. Suspected fraud can be reported to talent@eclerx.com.

How long does eClerx take to hire?

Glassdoor averages 10 days across 1,030 eClerx interview reports and 7 days for Financial Analysts. On AmbitionBox, 78% of candidates say the process took less than 2 weeks. Some walk-in candidates finish all rounds in one day.
