The Verizon interview process for most jobs is an online assessment, a phone screen and one structured behavioral interview. For retail sales, the assessment covers sales and customer situations, and the interview is with a store manager, often with a role-play where you sell a phone. Customer service candidates get call simulations and listening exercises. Engineering roles add one technical round, usually easy coding or knowledge questions.
Verizon says structured behavioral interviews are the foundation of its hiring: every candidate for a role hears the same questions and is scored on the same rating scales. Interviewers can repeat a question but are not allowed to explain it, so answer exactly what was asked.

Verizon interview questions with answers
Q: Sell me this phone.
Ask before you pitch: “What do you use your phone for most? What do you dislike about the one you have now?” Then recommend one feature that answers what they said, such as battery life for someone who travels or the camera for a parent. Handle one objection, usually price, by mentioning a trade-in or a monthly payment, and finish by asking for the sale: “Want me to set it up for you today?” Store managers score the questions you ask as much as the pitch.
Q: How would you meet our store quota?
Break it into daily numbers. Say how many customers you expect to talk to per shift, what share you aim to close, and how you would add accessories or protection where it actually fits the customer. Add how you would use quiet hours: calling existing customers about upgrades, which the Denver posting lists as part of the job.
Q: Reverse a singly linked list in place.
Keep three pointers: prev starting at null, curr at the head, and next. In a loop, save curr.next into next, point curr.next at prev, then move prev to curr and curr to next. When curr is null, prev is the new head. It runs in O(n) time and O(1) space. Mention the empty list and the single-node list as edge cases.
Q: Remove duplicates from an array.
If order does not matter or the array is sorted, sort it and keep a write index that only advances when the current value differs from the last kept one: O(n log n) time, O(1) extra space. If you must keep the original order, walk the array once and add each value to a hash set, keeping it only the first time you see it: O(n) time and O(n) space. Ask which one the interviewer wants before coding.
Q: Explain event bubbling.
When an event fires on a DOM element, it first runs handlers on that element, then moves up through each ancestor to the document. That is bubbling. Capturing is the reverse pass from the top down, which runs first if a listener sets capture to true. You can stop it with event.stopPropagation(), and you can use bubbling for event delegation: one listener on a parent list handles clicks on every child item, including ones added later.
Verizon pre-employment assessment
Verizon sends the assessment by email with the subject “Take Assessment for Your Verizon Application.” You open it in Candidate Home under My Tasks, and it runs in a separate browser tab. Verizon’s assessment page says tests are job-specific and may include multiple-choice questions, personality inventories, simulations or situational questions, and it lists separate assessments for:
- Retail Sales Associate and Specialist
- Senior Retail Manager
- Customer Service and Tech Support
- Inside Sales Representative
- Frontline Supervisor
- Wireline associate positions, with knowledge tests
- Internships and language tests
The Interview Guys report that retail sales candidates usually get this written assessment, while Verizon Connect field sales and account roles more often get a HireVue one-way video instead. Some retail candidates called their three-part assessment intense. Verizon’s page has a retest policy section, but it does not state the waiting period, so ask your recruiter before retaking.
Verizon Wireless interview questions for retail sales
Most people searching for interview questions for Verizon are applying to a store. A Verizon Retail Sales Associate posting for Denver (closing August 24, 2025) shows what the job asks for:
- Pay: $16 to $21 an hour base in general; $18.27 an hour to start in Colorado. Commission of up to $16,000 a year for hitting all individual sales goals, with top performers earning $65,000 to $73,500 or more.
- Schedule: full time, 40 hours a week, set four weeks ahead. Evenings, weekends and holidays are required, with extra shifts in summer and November-December.
- Requirements: high school diploma or GED and at least one year of work or military experience. Commission, sales or customer service experience is preferred.
- Duties: recommend products, ask questions to find what a customer needs, close sales, contact existing customers by phone and text, and work community events.
Verizon store hiring process
Candidates on Glassdoor describe: the assessment, one or two short phone interviews (one candidate had two of about 20 minutes each), then an in-person interview with the store manager. Some stores add a situational role-play that changes from day to day. One reviewer said the manager read questions from a sheet, which fits Verizon’s structured format.
Verizon retail interview questions
- How would you handle a difficult customer?
- Tell me about a time you gave exemplary customer service.
- Explain in detail how you would meet our store quota.
- Tell me about a time you overcame an objection.
- Tell me about a goal you missed and what you did about it.
- What do you know about Verizon, and why Verizon?
- What would you do if a fellow employee took a dollar from the register?
- Sell me this phone, or sell me something other than what I came in for.
Answers with numbers do best: how many sales a week, what attach rate, how many customers a shift. Sample answers are on the Verizon behavioral interview questions page.
What to wear and when you hear back
Verizon does not publish an interview dress code; neat business casual is a safe choice for a store interview. One store candidate was told they would hear back within a week and never did; follow up with the recruiter after 7 days.
Verizon customer service interview
Customer service and tech support candidates report the longest assessment. Glassdoor reviewers describe:
- A personality questionnaire on a strongly disagree to strongly agree scale.
- A 60 to 75 minute online assessment covering data entry, listening and job skills.
- A phone interview.
- A later exercise listening to recorded calls: one candidate heard 4 calls and answered 2 questions about each, rating how well the representative handled it.
- A face-to-face interview with questions like why Verizon, how you would handle an angry customer, and a time you had a difficult task and little time.
Glassdoor aggregates about 590 interviews for this role with a difficulty of 2.9 out of 5. Reported timelines range from 10 days to over three months.
Verizon software engineer and tech interviews
US engineering loops reported on Taro in 2025 are short:
| Role and date | What was reported |
|---|---|
| Software Engineer, US (March 2025) | HR screen, a coding interview (reverse a linked list in place), then a hiring manager round on teamwork and problem-solving |
| Software Developer, Temple Terrace, FL (April 2025) | One two-hour panel with three interviewers: hardware, operating systems, APIs, and one easy problem (remove duplicates from an array). Offer accepted |
| Full Stack Development Intern, Irving, TX (April 2025) | Fully behavioral; asked to describe a time they had to be flexible |
| UI Developer, Irving, TX (October 2025) | In-person recruiter fit interview at the Dallas office, then online live coding; asked about event bubbling |
Prepare easy array, string and linked-list problems, plus API and front-end basics if the role is web-facing.
Who does well in Verizon interviews
Good fit: You have sold something on commission or worked a busy counter, and can give numbers. Verizon’s structured format rewards direct answers to the exact question.
Harder path: You go vague under a role-play. Store managers use “sell me this phone” to see whether you ask questions before pitching, so practice asking two questions first.
Verizon India: campus hiring and online test
Verizon hires engineers in India in Hyderabad, Chennai and Bengaluru, and India campus loops look different from US ones. An August 2025 Hyderabad SDE who accepted an offer had an online test covering DSA, paragraph writing, English, logical reasoning and AI prompting, then a group discussion, an AI prompt-writing round, a technical interview on DSA, web development, projects and DBMS, and a basic HR round. A December 2025 Chennai SDE 1 had a group discussion, a technical round heavy on AI and automation tools, and HR. 2026 Hyderabad reports on Glassdoor describe an online test with Gen AI multiple-choice questions, CS fundamentals and a gamified aptitude section.
A two-week Verizon prep plan
- Days 1-3: Write six stories: a difficult customer, a sale you closed, an objection you overcame, a missed goal, an honesty situation, and a time you went above and beyond.
- Days 4-5: Learn the basics of Verizon’s current phone plans and home internet so you can talk about them in a role-play.
- Days 6-7: Practice the “sell me this phone” role-play out loud three times: ask about the customer’s use, recommend, handle one objection, close.
- Days 8-10 (care roles): Practice typing and data entry tests online, and listen to a few customer service calls, noting what the agent did well and badly.
- Days 11-14 (tech roles): Easy array, string and linked-list problems, plus API and front-end basics; prepare five STAR stories for the hiring manager.
