The eClerx HR interview checks four things: spoken English, commitment to shifts and location, stability, and salary fit. It usually comes after the communication and aptitude tests and before the operations round, and in some walk-ins it is the first conversation of the day. The questions asked most are tell me about yourself, why eClerx out of all BPOs, are you comfortable with night shifts, are you comfortable with this location, what is your salary expectation, where do you see yourself in 5 years and why should we hire you.
Some candidates get two short HR conversations: a February 2025 Financial Analyst candidate had an HR round on salary and introduction, then a second on whether the location suited them. The full round order is on the eClerx interview questions hub, and candidate reports are on the eClerx interview experience page.
eClerx’s values
eClerx’s careers page names four values: Excellence, People, Integrity and Client-Centric. HR does not quiz candidates on them, but they map to what the round checks: accuracy in your work (Excellence), honesty about shifts and notice periods (Integrity) and how you treat a difficult client or caller (Client-Centric).
eClerx HR interview questions with sample answers
1. Tell me about yourself
Sample answer: “I’m a 2026 B.Com graduate from Mumbai University. In my final year I did a two-month internship at a CA firm, where I reconciled bank statements for twelve clients and found a duplicate payment of about Rs 40,000. I’m comfortable in Excel, including VLOOKUP and pivot tables, and I’ve studied derivatives and the trade life cycle for this role. I applied for the Finance Apprentice Analyst role because I want to start in capital-market operations.”
2. Why eClerx out of all BPOs?
Sample answer: “eClerx’s finance teams do KYC, reconciliations and trade support for global banks, so the work builds real capital-market knowledge, which fits my commerce degree. It is a listed company headquartered in Mumbai, and the role starts with structured training. I would rather learn operations properly than take a general voice process.”
3. Are you comfortable with night shifts?
Sample answer: “Yes. I live 25 minutes from Airoli by local train, and for late shifts I’ve checked the cab option. My family knows the timings, and I’ve worked late during audit season at my internship. I would keep a fixed sleep schedule so my accuracy does not drop.”
4. Are you comfortable with this location?
Sample answer: “Yes. I’m in Thane, so Mindspace Airoli is one change on the Trans-Harbour line, about 35 minutes. If I’m placed in Pune I can move within two weeks; I have relatives in Hinjewadi.”
5. What is your salary expectation?
Framework: Give a range near the market rate (AmbitionBox shows Rs 2.8-3.1 lakh a year typical for eClerx Analysts; a July 2026 Pune walk-in listed Rs 3.5-4.3 lakh). Say you are flexible during training. Ask about in-hand pay and any night-shift allowance. A February 2025 candidate was asked this in the first HR round.
6. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Sample answer: “In the first year I want to know the process well enough to make no errors on my checks. By year three I want to be a Senior Analyst handling client queries, and by year five an Associate Process Manager running a small team. I’d also like to finish a certification in financial markets alongside the job.”
7. How would you control attrition?
Sample answer: “I’d start with the first 90 days, when most people leave: a buddy for each new joiner, a clear training plan, and a weekly check-in. Then fair shift rotation and recognition for accuracy, not only volume. I’d track 90-day retention each month and ask everyone who leaves why.”
8. What are your strengths and weaknesses?
Sample answer: “My strength is accuracy. In my internship I cross-checked every reconciliation against the ledger total before sending it, and none came back. My weakness is speaking too fast when I’m nervous. I now record mock answers and slow down to one point per sentence.”
9. Why should we hire you?
Sample answer: “I have the basics the role needs: I can explain derivatives, settlement and KYC, and I use Excel daily. I can communicate clearly in English, and I’m ready for night shifts at this location from day one.”
10. What do you know about our company?
Sample answer: “eClerx was founded in 2000, is based in Mumbai and is listed on the BSE and NSE. It provides process management, automation and analytics to large clients, mainly in financial services, and in its last financial year it reported revenue of about INR 4,217 crore with over 22,000 delivery staff.”
11. Tell me about your family background
Framework: An Airoli Analyst candidate in January 2026 was asked this. Keep it to three facts: who is at home, what they do, and that they support your job and shift timings. HR asks to judge stability, so end on why you want a steady role.
12. Name four things you like and dislike about Mumbai
Framework: A Financial Analyst candidate was asked this on AmbitionBox. Answer quickly and evenly: likes such as the local train network, job opportunities, food and the pace; dislikes such as monsoon flooding, crowded trains, rent and long commutes. The question tests fluent spoken English, not your opinion.
13. Do you have any questions for us?
Strong questions:
- “Which client process will this role support?”
- “How long is training, and how is it assessed?”
- “What are the shift timings for the first six months?”
Answers that hurt in eClerx HR rounds
- “I’ll manage” on night shifts, with no plan
- Saying you plan to start an MBA or CA soon; the March 2026 Airoli notice excluded candidates still pursuing them
- A salary figure far above the walk-in range with no flexibility
- A memorized introduction that falls apart on a follow-up
- Not knowing what eClerx does
