2025 candidate reports describe a coding-heavy Snowflake interview process: a two-hour HackerRank online assessment with DP and backtracking problems for most interns, one to three live coding screens on graphs, trees and DP, a panel of three or four back-to-back interviews, and a hiring manager call, followed by team matching for interns. Candidates who got offers said interviewers cared about why they picked an approach and how they tested it; candidates who were rejected mostly hit LeetCode-hard problems under tight time or reached team matching after headcount had filled.
Snowflake interview process round by round
| Round | Duration | What candidates reported |
|---|---|---|
| Online assessment | Up to 2 hours | HackerRank; one DP problem, or three DP and backtracking hards |
| Coding screens | 1-3 rounds | Strings and hashmaps; BFS and topological sort; a React task for one new grad |
| Panel | 3-4 back-to-back interviews | More coding; a LeetCode medium tree problem in one IC2 loop |
| Hiring manager | One call | Projects, fit, team |
| Team matching | Varies | Interns can wait for headcount here |
Snowflake interview process in 2025: what candidates reported
These are self-reported accounts on Taro (jointaro.com). Each is one candidate’s experience.
- Software engineer intern, Menlo Park, CA (July 2025, accepted offer). Two technical rounds with LeetCode medium graph problems and one behavioral round. Interviewers asked for reasoning, alternatives and their trade-offs, which inputs suit approach A versus B in time and space, and test cases. The candidate called the interviewers collaborative.
- Software engineer intern, San Mateo, CA (June 2025, no offer). An OA of three LeetCode-hard DP and backtracking problems, then two back-to-back technical interviews, also hard. Other questions: explain multithreading, your favorite class, and Java versus C++ compilers. The candidate reached team matching for Fall 2025, but headcount was essentially filled.
- Software engineer intern, United States (April 2025, no offer). A HackerRank invite a couple of days after applying, with a two-hour limit and a dynamic programming problem. No later rounds were described.
- New grad software engineer, Toronto (July 2025, no offer). Three coding screens: a LeetCode easy on strings and hashmaps, a medium-hard on BFS and topological sort, and a React frontend task. Then a panel of three back-to-back one-on-ones and a hiring manager call.
- Software engineer IC2, San Francisco (March 2025, no offer). A conversation with the hiring manager, recruiter outreach, two code screens, then four panelists. One question was a LeetCode medium tree problem.
- Software engineer, Seattle, WA (May 2025, no offer). One coding session with two LeetCode hards under strict time. The candidate solved both and was rejected, and described the interviewer as unwilling to answer clarifying questions.
Detailed interview experiences
Experience 1: Intern, Menlo Park, offer accepted (July 2025)
Technical round 1 and 2: LeetCode medium graph problems. After a working solution, the interviewers asked for alternative approaches and which kind of input would favor each one by time and space complexity, then for test cases.
Behavioral round: No details shared.
What decided it: The candidate credited strong follow-up discussion. Snowflake interviewers here wanted the reasoning, not only the code.
Experience 2: Intern, San Mateo, reached team matching (June 2025)
OA: Three LeetCode hards on dynamic programming and backtracking.
Technical interviews: Two in a row, with one Snowflake-tagged hard, one untagged hard and one untagged medium. Interviewers were reserved during coding and warmer during the candidate’s questions at the end.
Other questions: Explain multithreading. What is your favorite class? What are the differences between Java and C++ compilers?
Result: Passed the interviews but no offer, because Fall 2025 intern headcount had filled during team matching.
Takeaway: Apply early in the cycle, and prepare systems fundamentals as well as LeetCode.
Experience 3: New grad, Toronto (July 2025)
Screens: Three separate coding screens, increasing in difficulty: strings and hashmaps, BFS with topological sort, then React.
Panel: Three back-to-back one-on-ones, followed by a hiring manager call.
Result: No offer; the report does not say which round decided it.
Takeaway: Some Snowflake teams test frontend skills even in a general new grad loop. Ask the recruiter what the third screen covers.
Experience 4: Software engineer IC2, San Francisco (March 2025)
Process: Hiring manager conversation first, then two code screens, then a panel of four.
Question shared: A LeetCode medium tree problem.
Result: No offer.
Experience 5: Software engineer, Seattle (May 2025)
Format: One session, two LeetCode hards, strict time.
Result: Rejected despite solving both. The candidate felt the interviewer interrupted often and would not answer clarifying questions.
Takeaway: Ask clarifying questions early and state your assumptions out loud, so the interviewer can correct you before you code.

Snowflake interview tips from these reports
Online assessment
- Practice timed DP and backtracking sets on HackerRank.
- Budget time for the hardest problem last.
Coding and panel
- Explain why you chose your approach and which inputs would change it.
- Write test cases before the interviewer asks.
Timing
- Intern headcount can fill during team matching, so apply early.
- Expect two to three screens before the panel.
