Roblox’s behavioral round tests how you work with others, take initiative and own mistakes, scored against its four published values: Take the Long View, Get Stuff Done, Respect the Community and We Are Responsible. The questions reported most often are a disagreement with a teammate and how you resolved it, a walk through your resume, and why Roblox. Early career candidates also face a behavioral multiple-choice test and situational judgment questions inside the online assessment.
Where it sits in the Roblox interview process: an intern in 2025 had a 30-minute behavioral interview before the games and CodeSignal; senior candidates had hiring manager calls before and after the onsite plus a director call. Full loops are on the Roblox interview experience page.
Roblox’s four values
Roblox’s values page lists Take the Long View (anchor short-term choices to a bigger goal, progress through incremental steps), Get Stuff Done (act on your own initiative, keep iterating), Respect the Community (weigh your wider impact, aim for everyone’s best interests, communicate honestly) and We Are Responsible (accept accountability for planned and unplanned effects of your actions).
The behavioral parts of the Roblox online assessment
Early career assessments in 2025 included a behavioral multiple-choice test and either a writing assessment or situational decision questions. These have no right answer published, but the scenarios reward the same things as the values: protecting users, owning a problem, and communicating early. Answer as you would act, consistently across similar items.
Common Roblox behavioral questions
1. Tell me about a time you had a disagreement with a teammate and how you resolved it
What to cover: Name the specific point of disagreement, how you each argued it, what evidence settled it, and how you worked together after. Roblox’s Respect the Community value asks people to communicate honestly and aim for everyone’s best interests, so show you listened before you persuaded.
STAR sample: “Situation: On a class game project, my teammate wanted server-side physics for every object; I wanted client-side prediction to keep input lag down. Task: Pick one before the playtest. Action: We built both for one object and measured: server-only added about 120 ms of visible lag. We kept server authority for scoring and used client prediction for movement. Result: Playtesters stopped reporting lag, and cheating on scores was still blocked.”
2. Walk me through your resume
What to cover: Spend about two minutes: current or latest role, the one project with the clearest result, and why Roblox now. Senior candidates in 2025 said the behavioral round focused mainly on the resume, so expect follow-ups on every line.
3. Tell me about a time you took a short-term step toward a long-term goal
What to cover: Describe the long-term goal, the smaller step you shipped first, and how it moved you toward the goal. This maps to Take the Long View, which asks people to anchor short-term choices to a bigger goal and make progress through incremental steps.
Sample answer: “Our long-term goal was moving a monolith’s search to a separate service. Instead of a rewrite, I first put the existing search behind an interface and logged every query. Three months later we swapped the implementation behind that interface with no client changes.”
4. Tell me about a time you took initiative without being asked
What to cover: Pick something you started on your own, what you shipped, and how you kept iterating. This maps to Get Stuff Done, which Roblox describes as acting on your own initiative and iterating toward long-term goals.
Sample answer: “Our CI took 25 minutes. Nobody owned it, so I profiled it on a Friday, split tests into four parallel jobs and cached dependencies. It dropped to eight minutes, and I wrote a short doc so others could keep tuning it.”
5. Tell me about a mistake that had consequences you did not plan for
What to cover: Explain the action, the unplanned effect, how you found out, and what you did to fix it and prevent it. This maps to We Are Responsible: accountability for both planned and unplanned effects of your actions.
Sample answer: “I added an aggressive cache to speed up a leaderboard, and it showed stale ranks to players for up to five minutes, which looked like a bug in a tournament. I cut the TTL to 10 seconds that night, posted an explanation, and added a check that flags caching on any data shown during live events.”
6. Why Roblox?
What to cover: Connect a specific part of Roblox, such as the creator economy, the engine, safety or discovery, to work you have done or want to do. The early career team matching includes groups like Infra, Engine, Search and Discovery, Foundational AI and Economy, so naming one shows you looked.
7. Tell me about a time you protected users at a cost to your schedule
Sample direction (Respect the Community): A launch you delayed for a safety, privacy or accessibility fix, what it cost, and who agreed.
8. Describe a project where you iterated many times
Sample direction (Get Stuff Done): Show the versions, what each one taught you, and the metric that told you to stop.
9. Tell me about a time you kept stakeholders informed during a problem
Sample direction (We Are Responsible): Roblox’s values page asks people to take responsibility for how they communicate and keep relevant parties informed. Give the cadence and channel you used.
10. What have you built in Roblox or another game engine?
Sample direction: Not required, but common for early career. If you have built anything, describe the mechanic and one thing you changed after watching players.
11. How do you decide between a quick fix and a proper fix?
Sample direction (Take the Long View): Ship the quick fix if it is reversible and buys time, file the proper fix with an owner and date, and say how you made sure it happened.
12. Do you have any questions for us?
- “How does this team measure impact on creators or players?”
- “What does team matching look like after the interviews?”
- “What would a strong first six months look like here?”

Answers that hurt in Roblox’s behavioral round
- Disagreement stories with no evidence, only persistence
- Resume lines you cannot explain in detail
- Treating the situational multiple-choice items as a test to game rather than answering consistently
- A “why Roblox” answer about playing as a child with no link to the engineering work
