Lowe’s candidates in 2025-2026 describe one in-store interview after the online application and assessment, usually a short conversation with a department manager or assistant store manager, sometimes with a store tour. They were asked about customer service experience, scheduling flexibility, conflict, going above and beyond for a customer, and sometimes product knowledge for their department. Offers often came within a week or two; distribution candidates sometimes took a drug test on the spot.
The negative reports are mostly about scheduling: cancelled interviews, interviewers who changed at the last minute, and candidates turned down over limited availability. Corporate and tech candidates had a recruiter screen and one or two technical or behavioral rounds.
Lowe’s interview process round by round
| Step | What candidates reported |
|---|---|
| Online application and assessment | Part of the same online flow for hourly roles |
| Scheduling call | Store calls with an interview window; some candidates call the store to follow up |
| Store interview | One interviewer (department manager or ASM), sometimes two; work history, availability, situational questions |
| Offer | At the interview or within about two weeks |
| Checks | Drug test and background check; some distribution roles test on site |

Detailed interview experiences
Experience 1: Sales associate, West Des Moines, Iowa (2026)
Source: Glassdoor review posted July 20, 2026. Accepted offer, rated easy.
Interview: Interviewers were friendly and relaxed. The candidate got a tour of the store with information about what working in different departments would be like, and an explanation of the timeline if they were offered the job and accepted.
Questions: Customer service experience they had, and their flexibility in scheduling.
Takeaway: Use the tour to say which department you would like. Have a clear weekly schedule ready.
Experience 2: Customer service associate, Hoover, Alabama (June 2025)
Source: Glassdoor review posted September 2026. Accepted offer, applied in person, five days end to end.
Interview: A conversation with the assistant store manager in the training room at the back of the store, about past experience. The candidate called it very easy and recommended the job to younger workers.
Question: Whether they would like to be a head cashier.
Takeaway: Expect a question about growth. Lowe’s careers site shows a store manager who started as a head cashier.
Experience 3: Customer service associate, Zephyrhills, Florida (2026)
Source: Glassdoor review posted June 17, 2026. Accepted offer, rated easy.
Interview: A handful of standard retail questions. The candidate was told one person would interview them, but someone else did, and noted it helps to ask for the correct person at the desk.
Question: When was a time you went above and beyond for a customer?
Takeaway: Prepare a customer story with a specific result, and confirm the interviewer’s name when you arrive.
Experience 4: Sales associate, Shelbyville, Kentucky (2026)
Source: Glassdoor review posted May 13, 2026. No offer, rated easy.
What happened: The candidate was not hired for a part-time role because one six-hour period was blocked out on their availability, and the store would not work around it.
Takeaway: Availability can decide the outcome even for part-time jobs. If you can open up a block, say so in the interview.
Experience 5: Department manager (May 2021)
Source: Glassdoor review posted October 2025. Accepted offer, applied in person, one week.
Interview: About five situational “tell me about a time” questions. The candidate felt the store wanted a problem solver, team player and someone adaptable.
Question: Tell me about a time you adapted quickly.
Takeaway: Department manager interviews are built on past-behavior questions. A Wetumpka, Alabama candidate said every question they got started with “tell me a time when,” so prepare at least five STAR stories.
Experience 6: Software engineering intern, San Francisco (2026)
Source: Glassdoor review posted October 19, 2026. Declined offer, rated easy.
Process: Recruiter screening call, then an interview with two software engineers who asked behavioral questions and questions about technology. No coding or technical assessment. Offer a little over a month later.
Takeaway: Be ready to talk through your projects and technology choices in depth rather than solving a timed problem.
Experience 7: Associate software developer, Bengaluru (March 2025)
Source: Taro report, March 2025.
Rounds: An online assessment with two data structures and algorithms questions, then an in-person interview. The interviewer had a data engineering background and asked about the candidate’s projects, DBMS and Python.
Takeaway: For Lowe’s India roles, practice two-question DSA tests and review SQL and database concepts.
