FedEx package handlers in 2025-26 mostly report no formal interview: an online application (often a chat-style flow), a call or email about shifts and transportation, a background check and drug test, then orientation. Courier candidates describe a short in-person or phone interview with yes-or-no checks on weather, attendance and lifting followed by three or so STAR questions, and most who agreed to the conditions were hired. Software engineers report a recruiter call, one or two technical rounds and a managerial round.
The common complaint from hourly candidates is the wait for the background check, not the interview. For tech roles, Glassdoor’s average time to hire is 61 days.

FedEx interview process in 2025-26: package handler reports
These are self-reported Glassdoor reviews. Each is one person’s account.
- Package Handler, US, August 2026 (accepted offer). Did not remember an interview. Applied online, was called in the next day for orientation and given a start date right away. The only question: how soon can you start? The job was very physical but not hard.
- Package Handler, Carson, CA (interviewed September 2025, accepted offer, about a week). An online AI application, then approval with a schedule, a wait for the background check and orientation. No questions beyond confirming availability for the shifts. Easy to get in, hard to stay if you are not ready for the work.
- Package Handler, San Francisco, CA, July 2026 (accepted offer). No interview. Within a week of applying got a call and an email with an offer and an orientation at a local facility at 3 a.m.; orientation took two days plus one day of training.
- Package Handler, Lansing, MI, July 2026 (accepted offer). A call with basic questions about transportation and a description of the job, then an offer. Questions were about availability and whether they were still interested.
- Package Handler, US, June 2026 (accepted offer). Phone call, background check, orientation, then work. Asked about previous work experience.
Detailed interview experiences
Experience 1: Courier, US (February 2026, no offer)
The interviewer first asked whether the candidate would work in any weather, keep good attendance and be on time, and lift up to 50 pounds on their own. Then three STAR-format questions: describe a time you had to adapt, describe a time you dealt with a stressful situation at work, describe a time you had to be well organized. The candidate did not receive an offer and did not say why.
Experience 2: Courier, Phoenix, AZ (November 2025, accepted offer in four days)
An in-person interview with typical STAR questions and a run-through of the job and the candidate’s abilities. The question recalled was to name a time you had a difficult customer and how you handled it. The candidate’s view: as long as you agree to be on time and work in any weather, you should get an offer.
Experience 3: Courier, Goleta, CA (December 2025, declined offer)
Straight to the point: tell me about yourself, how do you handle a stressful situation, can you deal with changing weather. The interviewer closed by describing a typical week for a courier. The candidate received an offer and declined it.
Experience 4: Courier, Bellmawr, NJ (interviewed 2022, posted January 2026, accepted offer)
Basic questions and several scenarios, with the candidate asked how they would handle each one. The interviewer explained the job’s requirements during the interview. Question recalled: will you show up to work on time?
Experience 5: Delivery Driver, US (February 2025, accepted offer)
The interview was a delivery ride-along. The person asked whether this was a job the candidate was willing and able to do, whether they could work weekends, whether they could drive a large truck and whether they had driven one before. A March 2025 Durham, North Carolina driver, hired in about a week, was asked about availability during peak and slow periods and called the recruiter quick and professional.
Experience 6: Software roles (2024-26)
- Software Developer, US (April 2026, accepted offer). Three rounds: a phone call on whether experience matched the skill set, a technical round with SQL and case studies, and a behavioral round with scenario questions, previous projects and leadership.
- Software Engineer, New York, NY (interviewed September 2025, no offer). An online application, a brief phone screen, and one-on-one or panel interviews of 30-45 minutes by Zoom or in person, with STAR questions and an emphasis on safety, reliability and working in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
- Software Engineer, Nashville, TN (2024, declined offer). Recruiter call, then a technical phone interview with a LeetCode easy to medium problem. Offer a couple of days later.
- Software Engineer, Pittsburgh, PA (2024, accepted offer). HR screen, a data structures coding round, a face-to-face round on past experience and the latest tech stack, and a managerial round.
- Software Engineer, Orlando, FL (April 2024, no offer). A phone interview on background and tech stack, including which message queue they had used and whether they had used JMS, then a walk through the team’s technologies.

FedEx interview tips from these candidates
- Keep your phone on. Handlers were called within a week and sometimes started orientation the next day.
- Plan for early starts. Orientation and sorts can begin at 3 a.m.
- Say yes only if you mean it. Weather, attendance and lifting questions come first for couriers, and the job is physical.
- Still prepare STAR stories. Three of the four courier reports above included STAR questions after the yes-or-no checks.
- Expect the background check to be the slowest step.
