A Chick-fil-A team member interview tests whether you will be warm with guests, reliable on your shifts and easy to work beside, and the most common questions are why do you want to work at Chick-fil-A, what is your availability, describe a time you made a mistake and what you learned, describe an important goal and whether you reached it, and tell us about your customer service or hospitality experience. Group interviews add round-robin versions of the same questions. The final round with the Operator is a conversation about your goals, school and hobbies.
Each restaurant is run by an independent Operator, so the questions vary. The Chick-fil-A hiring process page explains the rounds and pay, and Chick-fil-A interview experiences has the individual reports.
What Chick-fil-A interviewers look for
Restaurant postings spell it out. An October 2026 Marietta, Georgia posting asked for a “positive attitude, servant’s heart,” the ability to multitask and work “at a quick, yet efficient and thorough pace,” team orientation and dependability, weekend availability, and someone who “honors and encourages others to follow the visions and values of the restaurant.” The Interview Guys add that Operators judge warmth, reliability and whether you want this specific job.
Chick-fil-A interview questions with sample answers
1. Tell me about yourself
Sample answer: “I’m a junior at North High, I play volleyball, and I help run the snack stand at home games. I like being busy and talking to people. I’m looking for my first job with afternoon and Saturday shifts.”
2. Why do you want to work at Chick-fil-A?
Sample answer: “I come to this restaurant a lot and the drive-thru team is fast and still friendly, which is how I’d like to work. I also want a job that fits school, and having Sundays off helps. The scholarship program is a real reason too.”
3. What is your availability?
Framework: Read exact hours from a list. Say clearly whether you can work Saturdays and closing shifts, and name any fixed limits like practice.
4. Describe a time you made a mistake and what you learned from it
STAR sample: “Situation: At the snack stand I gave a customer change for a $10 when he paid with a $20. Task: Fix it before he left. Action: I recounted, caught up to him, apologized and gave him the difference. Result: He thanked me, and now I leave the bill on the drawer until the change is counted out.”
5. Describe an important goal you had. Were you successful?
STAR sample: “Situation: I wanted to make varsity this year. Task: Improve my serve. Action: I practiced 50 serves after every practice for three months. Result: I made the team and now serve in rotation.”
6. What does hospitality mean to you, or what customer service experience do you have?
Sample answer: “It means making someone feel looked after, not only getting the order right. At the snack stand I remembered regulars’ orders and had them ready. I’d bring that to the counter here.”
7. How would you handle a difficult guest?
Sample answer: “Apologize, fix it right away, and make sure they leave happy. If I couldn’t fix it myself I’d get a leader quickly instead of making them wait.”
8. Tell me about a time you worked as part of a team under pressure
STAR sample: “Situation: Our team ran the concession stand at a playoff game with twice the usual crowd. Task: Keep the line moving. Action: I suggested one person only took money while two filled orders. Result: The line stayed under five minutes and we sold out.”
9. How do you handle feedback?
Sample answer: “I ask what to do differently and then do it. My coach told me I rushed my serve, so I slowed down and asked her to watch again the next week.”
10. What personal qualities make you a good fit?
Sample answer: “I’m dependable; I haven’t missed a practice this season. I’m also patient with people, which I think matters at the counter. I’m quiet with new people at first, so I make a point of introducing myself.” A first-time job seeker in Fayetteville, Georgia was hired on the spot in 2026 after questions like this.
11. Where do you see yourself in a year?
Sample answer: “Trained on every front-of-house position and trusted to train new team members. Chick-fil-A restaurants spot future leaders early, and I’d like to be one.”
12. Do you have any questions for us?
Good questions: “What does your best team member do differently?” and “What does training look like in my first two weeks?” Both are suggested by The Interview Guys’ 2026 guide.
