American Airlines flight attendant candidates in 2026 report four rounds: an online application with a personality and comprehension assessment, a self-recorded Meet Me video with situational questions, a virtual group or 2-on-1 interview, and a full-day in-person interview in Dallas with about 40 candidates. The questions they remember are why do you want to be a flight attendant, a time you went above and beyond for a customer, and a difficult customer, answered in STAR format. Airport agents report a short presentation and a three-question panel; software engineers report technical rounds on their stack and a leadership round.
Most hires describe the interviewers as friendly. The common complaint is waiting, with Glassdoor averaging 67 days to hire for flight attendants.

Flight attendant interview experiences (2026)
These are self-reported Glassdoor reviews. Each is one person’s account.
- Flight Attendant, Dallas, TX, October 2026 (accepted offer). The Meet Me video had four situational questions, answered with STAR. They believed three retakes were allowed, with two minutes of prep before recording started.
- Flight Attendant, US, September 2026 (accepted offer). An online group video interview with about 30 people where each answered one or two questions, then the in-person round with a mix of situational and career questions, split into many groups. Asked why they wanted to be a flight attendant.
- Flight Attendant, Dallas, TX, August 2026 (accepted offer). A personality quiz, a pre-recorded interview, a group interview, then the in-person interview, which they called warm and welcoming. Advice: be yourself and get to know the group you are seated with. Asked about a time with a difficult customer.
- Flight Attendant, US, August 2026 (accepted offer, rated difficult). A virtual interview, then an in-person interview with a group of roughly 40 people. Asked to name a time they went above and beyond for a customer.
- Flight Attendant, Florida, July 2026 (no offer yet). Finished only the online assessment and found both the practical comprehension part and the personality part easy.
- Flight Attendant, US, May 2026 (accepted offer). A video group interview of about 30 to 45 minutes, then an in-person day with 40 other applicants and behavioral and personality questions. Asked about going above and beyond for a customer.
- Flight Attendant, Dallas, TX, May 2026 (accepted offer). Application with test questions, an online group interview, then an in-person interview with “a lot of people with eyes on you.” Questions were on customer service and safety experiences. Their advice: dress professionally and be a good test taker, because training is very hard.
- Flight Attendant, New York, NY (interviewed March 2024, no offer). The session took about an hour; the group was split into three and each person got a situational question to answer with STAR.
- Flight Attendant, Dallas, TX (interviewed December 2022, accepted offer). Called the questionnaire tricky and the video interview odd because no one is on the other end, so they smiled and introduced themselves. A delayed flight moved them into another in-person group; they were hired on the spot and were flying the line five months after applying.
Customer service agent interview experiences
- Customer Service Agent, St. Louis, MO, August 2026 (no offer). A panel of four interviewers with two candidates. It opened with an overview of pay, benefits, hours and training, then three behavioral questions on teamwork, customer service and workplace situations, including a difficult supervisor. About 30 minutes.
- Customer Service Agent, Chicago, IL, March 2026 (declined offer). A presentation, a check that they were fine with the pay and duties, then only three situational questions, one about a supervisor they did not get along with.
- Customer Service Agent, Los Angeles, CA, February 2026 (accepted offer, one week). Applied February 10, got an email February 12, and attended an onsite group interview February 19: a 5-10 minute presentation, groups, questions on weekends, nights and holidays, then three questions. Clearances came in three to four days, but the start date waited until the whole class cleared onboarding and background checks.
- Customer Service Agent, Miami, FL (interviewed October 2021, accepted offer). A panel process that took about three months. They said interviewers notice how you are dressed and put together, and asked whether they would keep another job.
Software engineer interview experiences
- Software Engineer, Hyderabad, September 2026 (accepted offer, three weeks). Technical rounds on .NET, C#, APIs, SQL, cloud and problem solving, then a leadership round. Asked about a challenging production issue.
- Software Engineer, Dallas, TX, April 2026 (no offer, four weeks). Project questions, a programming question on numbers from a list, Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines, APIs and PostgreSQL.
- Software Engineer, Hyderabad (interviewed June 2025, accepted offer). Applied through a staffing agency. A third-party technical screen, a technical round with the team and an HR round. React components, virtual DOM and hooks, async JavaScript, hoisting and closures, and building a CRUD page.
Common threads from 2026 candidates
- Customer stories decide it. Prepare at least two above-and-beyond stories and one difficult-customer story with a clear result.
- You are watched in the group. Hires tell others to be friendly to the people seated with them and to go with the flow when plans change.
- Appearance counts. American’s written dress and grooming standard is part of the evaluation, and agent candidates say the same.
- Long waits are normal. American says the current round trains in 2027.
Interview preparation by stage
- Assessment: read each question carefully; one hire called the questionnaire tricky even though the personality section felt easy.
- Meet Me video: practice talking to your phone camera for two minutes per answer, smile at the start and use the prep time to outline STAR.
- Virtual round: keep answers short so the group moves; you may get only one or two questions.
- In-Person Experience: arrive in a suit, follow the grooming rules, and help your group in the activities.
- Agents: confirm availability up front and have a supervisor story ready.
