Zerodha Interview Experiences

These Zerodha interview notes are rewritten from public student posts and prep-site summaries. Your panel can still look different.

Usual flow: Application / assignment (varies) → Technical interviews → Culture fit

Opening-driven hiring rather than seasonal campus OA factories.

Engineering depth / product sense depending on role.

Culture fit with fintech brokerage context.

  • Be honest with yourself first: Zerodha does not run mass campus hiring for engineering. CTO Kailash Nadh has said publicly that the tech team hired roughly five people over four years - three of them in a single year - to reach about 35 engineers total, and that only two people had left the tech team in a decade. There is no seasonal Zerodha OA factory the way there is at a TCS or an Infosys. If you are looking for a campus drive to prepare for, this is not one; openings are posted individually and filled slowly. Treat any “Zerodha placement paper” you find with suspicion.
  • Student write-ups that do exist mostly come from non-engineering roles. Publicly posted Zerodha placement experiences skew heavily toward sales and support roles (Assistant Sales Manager and similar), which run an aptitude test, sometimes a group discussion, and then interviews. Very few detailed fresher software engineer write-ups circulate, which is consistent with how rarely those seats open.
  • Where technical rounds are reported, the shape is 3-5 rounds and reasoning-first. Candidates describe an aptitude/coding screen followed by one or two technical conversations covering arrays, string manipulation, linked lists and cycle detection, tree traversals, and SQL - plus questions about how markets and brokerages actually work. The consistent theme in reports is that interviewers push on how you got to an answer, your debugging approach, and your coding standards, rather than checking off a memorised solution.
  • The culture conversation is a real filter, not a closing formality. Reviews aggregate around 85%+ positive experience with moderate difficulty (roughly 2.7/5 on Glassdoor), and candidates repeatedly note the panels are friendly and that saying “I don’t know” plainly goes down better than bluffing. Demonstrated interest in fintech - open-source work, side projects, actual curiosity about trading systems - is reported to matter more here than pedigree or CGPA.

These notes come from public reports and can differ by campus, year, and role. If your college placement email or the official careers/notification PDF says something different, follow that.

After technical rounds, Zerodha usually closes with a short HR / hiring-manager conversation: motivation, location, notice period, and a couple of behavioural stories. Prepare those answers on the dedicated page rather than cramming them into this hub.
