Tech Mahindra Interview Experiences

How Tech Mahindra fresher interviews usually run, campus and off-campus. Patterns shift by year and role, so treat this as a prep map, not a script.

Tech Mahindra placement process includes: 1. Online Assessment (90 minutes) - Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, Verbal Ability, Technical questions, and Coding problems, 2. Technical Interview (45 minutes) - Programming problems, technical concepts (OOPs, DBMS, data structures), project discussion, 3. HR Interview (30 minutes) - General discussion about compensation, role expectations, and company fit. Total duration: 2-3 weeks from application to offer.

Eligibility (from student reports): 6.0+ CGPA in 10th, 12th, and graduation.

Fresher package ballpark (from student reports): Associate: ₹3.5-4.5 LPA. Confirm on your offer letter.

Round Duration What they test
Online Assessment 90-120 min Aptitude + coding
Technical Interview 30-45 min OOPs, SQL, DSA basics, projects
HR Interview 20-30 min Relocation, shifts, motivation

These are rewritten from public candidate write-ups, not invented composites. Details differ by campus and year.

Tech Mahindra is a volume recruiter, and the write-ups reflect that: the individual stories are thin and repetitive, but they agree closely on the structure, which makes the pattern itself the useful thing here.

  • Round 1 - Aptitude and English (~90 min): an AMCAT-style test across quantitative, logical reasoning and language, with sectional cutoffs - clearing the overall score is not enough.
  • Round 2 - Technical and psychometric (~90 min): two coding problems plus pseudocode questions, DSA at moderate difficulty, and a straightforward personality assessment on the AMCAT/SHL platform. The psychometric section is not scored for “cleverness” - answer consistently.
  • Round 3 - Conversational / versant test (~30 min): roughly seven sections of listening comprehension and spoken response, again on AMCAT/SHL. Candidates are routinely eliminated here, and it is the round people prepare for least.
  • Round 4 - Technical interview (~15 min): short and basic. Introduction, then simple coding - palindromes, swapping numbers without a third variable, pattern printing - plus OOP concepts, C/C++ syntax, the resume projects, and comfort with relocation and shifts.
  • Round 5 - HR (~15 min): background, family, an overview of the company from the HR side.

The same write-up notes multiple package tiers in the same drive, and a probation period after which stronger performers can be routed into CoE training tracks.

A second account describes the same funnel split into two phases: all online assessments on one day (aptitude/reasoning/verbal, then an essay-writing section judged on clarity and grammar, then a two-question coding test), followed by offline interviews after a gap of roughly 15 days once call letters go out.

The technical interview here was resume-driven and conceptual rather than algorithmic: OOP, SQL and joins, computer networking basics, SDLC and Agile. HR covered relocation, strengths and weaknesses, and hobbies.

Common thread: the elimination happens in the online phase, and the interviews are short conceptual checks. Reports consistently say interviewers test clarity of fundamentals, not advanced coding - so revise OOP, SQL and basic networking well enough to explain them out loud, and do not neglect the English/communication sections.

  1. Palindrome / reverse a linked list. Usually expects two pointers
  2. Character frequency in a string. Usually expects hashmap
  3. SQL: max salary per department. Usually expects GROUP BY / joins
  4. Discussion on OOPs and SQL, bottlenecks, failure modes, simple APIs
  5. Detailed project discussion, architecture, hardest bug, what you would change
  1. Why this company?
  2. Night shifts / relocation
  3. Bond (if mentioned in the college placement email)
  4. Where you see yourself in a few years
  • Clear the screening round first. Timed practice beats last-minute topic hopping.
  • For domain questions, explain OOPs in plain language, inputs, outputs, what breaks at scale.
  • OOPs and SQL still open a lot of Tech Mahindra panels. Do not skip fundamentals.
  • HR answers should be concrete. One story with a result beats five slogans.
  • If you do not know something, say so and outline how you would find out.

After technical rounds, Tech Mahindra usually closes with a short HR / hiring-manager conversation: motivation, location, notice period, and a couple of behavioural stories. Prepare those answers on the dedicated page rather than cramming them into this hub.
