One caution before the accounts: “L&T” is several different employers. Larsen & Toubro (the EPC / construction / heavy-engineering parent) hires GETs across all branches; L&T Technology Services (LTTS) and LTIMindtree are separate listed companies with their own, more IT-services-style funnels. Write-ups get filed under “L&T” indiscriminately, so check which entity your placement email names. The notes below are about the parent-company GET route, rewritten from public student posts.
Experience 1: Graduate Engineer Trainee, on-campus (2022, all branches)
Run on L&T’s own EduTech platform, not a third-party judge.
Two parts: general aptitude - analytical, verbal, numerical ability - and a branch-specific technical section. There was no DSA-style coding component in this account.
Reported round 2 - interview, ~15-20 minutes, with an extempore
Short by campus standards, and it moved fast.
Technical questions in this account ran wide rather than deep: DBMS vs RDBMS, primary key vs foreign key, current SQL version, Android vs iOS, what Bitcoin is, and where ML / AI / deep learning show up in consumer devices like Alexa.
HR content in the same sitting: background, technologies studied, hobbies, role models, career goals.
Extempore: the candidate picked one of Blockchain or Cloud Computing and spoke on it. Other reported topics are current-affairs-flavoured - EV adoption in India and its future scope came up in another account.
A psychometric section is common and catches people off guard: roughly 86 MCQs in about 20 minutes, aimed at values and character fit rather than ability. It is fast enough that overthinking is the failure mode; answer consistently.
The technical interview is built around your favourite subjects and your project. Core candidates report being asked to name subjects and then taken into them, plus depth on the project - what you used, why you chose it, why that field.
Assessment length is commonly ~90 minutes, but the composition varies by entity and cycle - some L&T-group drives run a 30-MCQ-plus-2-coding format instead.
The funnel usually ends with a medical exam, and the HR round is where compensation is discussed.
Aggregated Glassdoor reports put the difficulty at medium, with a large majority calling it a fair assessment; the hiring process averages roughly three weeks.
After technical rounds, L&T usually closes with a short HR / hiring-manager conversation: motivation, location, notice period, and a couple of behavioural stories. Prepare those answers on the dedicated page rather than cramming them into this hub.
