Dell Interview Experiences

These Dell interview notes are rewritten from public student posts and prep-site summaries. Your panel can still look different.

Usual flow: Resume shortlist → Online assessment (HirePro, MCQ) → 1-2 Technical interviews → Managerial/HR

Shortlisting is heavily filtered - one report had ~600 applicants down to 90 shortlisted, then 12 into interviews, 5 into the final round.

Project deep-dive (verifying you actually built it), CS fundamentals (OS, DBMS, OOPs, CN - OSI model, CPU scheduling, encapsulation), C++ (linked lists, interfaces, friend functions), coding (merge intervals, delete nth node from linked list), DevOps tools (Git, Maven, Docker); Business Analyst track adds data-interpretation MCQs, SQL joins/nested queries, and estimation/puzzle questions (coin-weighing, water-jar).

Resume/internship/skills discussion, relocation and location preference, teamwork/conflict-resolution behavioural questions; generally described as easy relative to the technical rounds.

Resume shortlist (600 → 90) → OA on HirePro (60 min, 50 MCQs: 10 aptitude + DBMS/OS/networking/OOPs/C++/Java/SQL/DS) → Tech round 1 (45 min, Teams: projects, OSI model, C++, coding - merge intervals + delete-nth-node, DevOps) → Managerial+HR (30 min: internships, Azure, hackathon, teamwork). 3 offers given out of ~12 interviewed; candidate got Intern+FTE offer.

Software Developer track: OA (aptitude + technical MCQ on recursion/DBMS/trees/OOP + C++/Java output questions) → Technical interview (projects, OOP, testing, C++, GitHub, deployment, teamwork) → HR (resume/academics/location). Business Analyst track (same drive) instead ran a data-interpretation MCQ test, a panel interview with puzzles (9-coin, water-jar) and SQL/schema-design questions, then a managerial round and HR. Candidate received the Software Developer offer as first preference.

These notes come from public reports and can differ by campus, year, and role. If your college placement email or the official careers/notification PDF says something different, follow that.

After technical rounds, Dell usually closes with a short HR / hiring-manager conversation: motivation, location, notice period, and a couple of behavioural stories. Prepare those answers on the dedicated page rather than cramming them into this hub.
