CDAC Interview Experiences

These CDAC interview notes are rewritten from public student posts and prep-site summaries. Your panel can still look different.

Usual flow: C-CAT (for PG Diploma admissions) or post-specific tests/interviews for jobs

Training exam vs employment hiring are different products.

Post-specific and centre-specific: core fundamentals for your discipline plus the project stack named in the advertisement (commonly Java/Spring, SQL and databases for software posts; digital design, embedded and Verilog for electronics posts), then a long walkthrough of your own project.

There is usually no separate HR round - motivation, contract terms, and posting location get folded into the same technical/personal interview. Document verification follows separately.

Reporting on C-DAC’s employment recruitment is sparse compared with the flood of C-CAT/PG-DAC content - most of what you find online is about the training-course entrance test, which is a different product. What candidate accounts do consistently say:

  • The written exam is broad and moderate, not brutal. Candidates who sat it describe roughly 100 objective questions over about 3 hours across English, reasoning, aptitude, general awareness and technical subjects for their discipline, with the syllabus emailed ahead of the exam and centre-based attendance. Difficulty is generally rated moderate; the challenge is coverage, not depth.
  • The interview is stack-specific and follows your resume closely. Glassdoor Project Engineer reports cluster around Core Java (exception handling, collections), SQL normalisation, and Spring ecosystem topics such as Spring Data JPA and pagination in Spring Boot - i.e. whatever the centre’s project stack is. Electronics candidates report being taken through digital fundamentals and Verilog when those appear on the resume. Do not expect a generic DSA round.
  • Your project is the spine of the interview. Nearly every account describes an extended walkthrough of the final-year or M.Tech project, with follow-ups on why you chose that technology and how it relates to the centre’s work. Project Engineer candidates on Glassdoor rate the process around 3/5 for difficulty with a largely positive experience.
  • The process shape varies by centre and by notification. C-DAC recruits per centre (Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Noida and others) on project-linked, often contract-term posts, and recent cycles for experienced roles have moved toward a screening-plus-interview model with no separate written exam. Read the specific advertisement rather than assuming a fixed pattern - and remember that finishing PG-DAC does not route you into a C-DAC job; you apply through this same recruitment like anyone else.

These notes come from public reports and can differ by campus, year, and role. If your college placement email or the official careers/notification PDF says something different, follow that.

After technical rounds, CDAC usually closes with a short HR / hiring-manager conversation: motivation, location, notice period, and a couple of behavioural stories. Prepare those answers on the dedicated page rather than cramming them into this hub.
