Akamai Interview Experiences

These Akamai interview notes are rewritten from public student posts and prep-site summaries. Your panel can still look different.

Usual flow: Aptitude/OA (HackerRank or written) → Group discussion (some drives) → Technical interview(s) → Managerial/HR

Edge/CDN and networking domain flavour throughout - Computer Networks and IT Security come up a lot, not just generic DSA.

HackerRank OA (~75 min): CS-fundamentals MCQs (OS, CN, DBMS, OOPs, DS), one SQL query, two coding problems (array/string). Interview rounds mix coding (string manipulation, first non-repeating character), OOP (operator overloading, smart pointers in C++), and heavy networking/security depth (OSI layers, Linux, IT security) in later/managerial rounds.

Short and informal - hobbies, “something not on your resume,” long-term goals; under 30 minutes. Initial HR touch-point is often just a call confirming background a few days after selection.

OA on HackerRank (75 min: 9 CS-fundamentals MCQs, 1 SQL query, 2 coding problems - array manipulation and string processing) → single technical round mixing coding (string reversal/replacement, first non-repeating character) and OOP in C++ (operator overloading for complex numbers, smart pointers). Candidate cleared the OA but did not advance past the technical round, attributing it to nerves rather than gaps in knowledge.

4 rounds funnelling 80 → 40 → 20 → 12 → 2: aptitude test (30 min, 18 questions) → group discussion in groups of 5 on topics like cybersecurity/networks → technical interview (45 min, in-depth Computer Networks and IT Security) → managerial interview (45 min: Linux/OS, CN, DBMS, DS, OOP fundamentals). HR call 2-3 days later just confirmed background/program details. 2 candidates selected for the Bangalore (Embassy Golf Link) internship.

These notes come from public reports and can differ by campus, year, and role. If your college placement email or the official careers/notification PDF says something different, follow that.

After technical rounds, Akamai usually closes with a short HR / hiring-manager conversation: motivation, location, notice period, and a couple of behavioural stories. Prepare those answers on the dedicated page rather than cramming them into this hub.
